Actually, status maker of watches Girard Perregaux is not alone in the Retro Watch category – but they certainly come first to mind. One reason being that they alone had the effrontery to name one of their collections the “1966″ – a name as confusing as it is brilliant. A reason for the so-called “retro fad” is the timeliness (pun unintended) of such theatrical works as Austin Powers, Mad Men and others. One can almost envision Mr. Powers (or Mike Myers) or Don Draper wearing a “1966″. You could find yourself laying out some “mad money” for a GP Classique Elegance 1966 (as much as ten thousand dollars) – or you could go for much less with a Girard-Perregaux replica watch.
An excellent imitation of the “1966″ is available as the WWW “Replica Girard-Perregaux 1966 Men’s Wristwatch”. This is a great copy as is evidenced by the high-resolution blowup photograph on the seller’s web page. It is not just a copy of the original photo either – one can tell by the high quality image. And, it looks just like the original maker’s watch – right down to the “GP” monogram in the top of the face dial with the maker name directly underneath. It is unfortunate but true that some copy watch makers miss the little details like the monogram. The appearance of the real looking simulation GP is a great thrill to watch geeks all over.
The main watch that one finds on this web site is the Number 132 with a classic and traditional white face dial. If one makes it to the list of GP watches on this seller’s site (a wrong turn can lead one to pages full of Chinese-only language!), the next up is a great metallic royal blue face dial version. Turn to this great maker for a thrilling replica Girard Perregaux watch.
